welcome to our farm
Grey Ghost Farm is a small family farm at Baker Creek, British Columbia. We provide naturally raised lamb, beef and produce.
We mostly raise South African Dorpers, mixed in with a few commercial ewes. The Dorper sheep was bred by the Department of Agriculture of South Africa when they crossed Dorset Horn Rams and Blackhead Persian ewes. From this humble beginning, the breed proved itself as hardy mutton sheep with a top quality, minimal-fat carcass at a relatively early age and the most sought after sheepskin in the world.
Known primarily for their fertility, hardiness, and long breeding season, the Dorper are a great sustainable farm breed. They’re exceptionally adaptable to various climates and environments; at our farm, the lambs grow well, in part because of the ewes’ excellent mothering skills and milk production.
Amy and the team
Amy
Growing up on the farm led to Amy’s love of all critters, and a tendency to rescue any animal in need of extra care. When not on the farm Amy works in the tourism industry with a passion for rural development.
Grizzly
Grizzly joined the farm as a rescue from Alberta. He loves to do everything at top speed and is quite sure he’s not a dog. His favourite things are to tell stories, sing songs, boss everyone around, and hang out with his ‘mom’.
Kaylee
A sweet and gentle soul, Kaylee is an Australian Shepherd/Border Collie cross who loves to please, chase balls, and cuddle. She’s the farm senior and the first rescue dog to join our family.
Bonnie
Our senior guardian, Bonnie is a Maremma graciously coming to Grey Ghost Farm from Dave & Janet Ellison. Her job, which she takes very seriously, is to keep all the critters safe, large and small.
Ariel
The puppy of the farm, Ariel is Bonnie’s granddaughter. She enjoys her training broken up with cuddles from her people, playtime with Mio, and occasionally coaxing Bonnie into a romp.
Serenade
Serenade is the ranch princess. This beautiful part-Arab mare joined our family from Manitoba and was an Endurance athlete. Today, she enjoys trails and hanging out with her many farm friends - all whom she we leave to come get horse cookies.
The Flock
The Grey Ghost Farm sheep are part of our family as well. Every one has a name, and the ladies are quite friendly, enjoying a good scratch where they can’t reach. Beyond being the reason for our farm, they also take care of lawn mowing, weed control, and weekend entertainment.
